You know how sometimes, you are not really sure you should do something and then you do actually end up doing it and it turns out to be one of the best things that you could have done. Well I had debated for months about doing this. So much so, that I waited till the last minute to sign up, waited till the last minute to pack... i was totally unprepared. I have to say it was one of the most restorative vacations that I have ever been on.

I ate at fabulous restaurants with wonderful new friends

Had a wonderful catered dinner.

Learned a valuable lesson about reading directions... and eye safety....
If you can not read the warning on that bottle of Clear Care... it states 'Do not rinse lens with Clear Care prior to insertion' There are warnings all over that bottle... Friday morning, guess where this went? Exactly where they told me not to put it... :) my excuse... I had been up for almost two days and was tired and jet legged... I know how to make a good first impression... lets move along...

I went to 'school' and saw some wonderful garments and learned some great tricks with knits...

Added to my stash and was seranaded.

This photo, I see, is missing my Jalie tie top pattern... and an embarrassing amount of trim... elastic, stretch lace, petersham ribbon... I could open my own store and still have enough for me.

And the piece de resistance... vintage clothes up close and personal.. Wow...

I am still jetlegged.. but had a wonderful time and can not wait to go back to Montreal sometime very soon.

Hello... I have been gone a very long time.... lets see.. I went back to school.. graduated... had a few birthdays.... Danced a little... sang a little.... found a decent job... lost this man in October.....

Well I told you I was computer illiterate. See that post for Wardrobe Refashion........ down there... you don't have far to go, I have not done much blogging lately... I Well my original post saved as a draft on April 24, 2007 actually posted on that same day.... Go figure. :):) I thought, since I am so bright, that since I revised it Oct. 08, 2007 it would post on 10.08.2007 duh.. So now it looks out of context LOLO

Well I am still in school but I am full time now and I am only working three days a week, so maybe sometime soon I will be able to get back to sewing and crafting. I am keeping my fingers crossed anyways..

Over the last couple of weeks there have been many ads on the radio for the Opera Romeo et Juliette. Actually we have been bombarded with them. Well I went to pick my daughter up from school the other day and she was not in a very good mood. So I asked her what was troubling her and She goes....

"We had assembly today and all we got is that awful singing You like. Damn!! I thought Oprah was coming to town and I was going to be on TV!"

Mind you, my daughter is only eleven and I should be washing her mouth out with soap for the swear word but I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath.

Kids say the darnedest things...

I had originally done this post back on April 24th, 2007.... Well life took over... I went back to school part time for the summer and work was overworking me by making me work 7 days straight all summer. Sometimes the tourist industy sucks when you are short staffed. So not whole lot got done with craftiness. I actually have not been in my sewing room since the spring.. :(:( it is full of dust, most of the plants died in there and many projects are waiting to still be done. :( I miss sewing :( terribly

In all fairness though, I did keep my word. I have only bought one item of clothing (we will not count the two, yes I said 2, full school bags full of books) since I originally unoffically joined in late April. there was no getting around it, My daughter needed a swiming suit... summer camp was calling me saying that DD's front acreage was not being covered by said suit and we just can not have that sort of thing at our camp and she wont be swimming till this matter is corrected... :):) Some people can be so darn offical when they are repremanding you..

Her step-mom bought her a very nice swimming suit right before summer camp but DD outgrew it two weeks later. And who's fault is this anyways.. Oh I am really not pointing a finger at you-know-who, SHE has no kids of her own how would SHE know that, You must buy said item a few sizes too big for it to fit more then a few days...

so without further adieu here is the post from April.

Well I like a good challenge and I am really going to need to save every last penny I have if I am going to be starting college in a few weeks. So I have joined this for the next 6 months. My contract doesn't start till June but I thought I better get started now. It will take me that long to figure out how to add that Wardrobe Refashion graphic to my side bar. :)

The Rules
1.
No buying new! (handmade is excepted; So this allows for Etsy purchases etc!!) All clothing must be Recycled, Renovated, Preloved or Thrifted, or Handmade only for the term. Employment related and special needs clothing (ie sports, school), shoes and undies are excepted from the rules, although you are encouraged to have a go at making these.
2.
In extreme circumstances, maybe a special event, or the worlds greatest and most amazing never to be repeated sale that you simply can not pass up, you may use the Get out of Refashionista Jail Free card. You are able to use this card once during the 2 month part of your contract; ie 1 for 2 months, 2 for 4 months etc. Of course you need to fess up on the blog and display the button!
3.
You must post on the blog at least once a week to let the community know what you've been up to. This will not only give you brag points, but inspire and encorouge others! Of course you need to display the button on your blog and have copied the pledge in at least one post, and provide a link to your pledge under the button.
4.
You need to be honest and admit when you've fallen off the Refashionista Wagon! Go directly to Refashionista Jail, do not pass GO and do not collect $200! Apply for parole once there.

Erin's Fabric

Here it is finally!!!... I am a day late and a dollar short. Well actually two days late.

Well it all started with this back on March 26th. I was planning to go to Vegas the first part of April and if I am going to look for fabric for myself might as well look for someone else too. Well I did not find her fabric or any for myself for that matter, but right after I got home I found this looking for something else. I was supposed to post this pic on Sunday for her to see it but camera batteries dead and life just sort of took over. Then first thing Monday I was supposed to mail it to her, But when I saw the line at the post office because DUH!!!! it is the day taxes are due.. and the line was out the door!!! Oh I will do it tomorrow. Sorry Erin I should not promise stuff is going to be mailed on Tax day. :)

Hello... Dell Customer Service.. Anybody home???

Hello I made it back.... and boy do I have a story to tell you.. Well see.. it all started back in Oct. when my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told her, like I always tell her, get me crafty stuff.. sewing stuff, you know that sort of thing. I would even settle for a gift card. Save on shipping costs. I think the actual things I had asked for this year were a set of wood knitting needles, a subscription to a knitting mag or fancy yarn. I gave her options this year.

Well every time I talked to her on the phone after our initial conversation... it was like what do you want for Christmas.. and I would say...didn't we already go over this? No.. what do you really want? :):):) Got to love my mom she can be funny sometimes.. Long about Dec 1 she calls me and tells me that: "you're getting a Dell for Chirstmas.. So call and pick out what you want so you can have it by Christmas"

We go through this every year.. She starts asking me what I want in Oct then she tells me in Dec what I will be getting. (see profile for other examples. :) lol)....... You know it really does not matter to me what I get for Christmas.. If you spend it with friends and family and good food.. The presents are irrelevant

So I did not order it and I did not order it.. (I was dragging my feet) My sister calls me around Dec. 12 and tells me in no uncertain terms.. "Would you just order that darn computer already so mom will stop bothering me to bother you about ordering it" (my mom is sneaky but good) My sister was 7 and a half months pregnant at the time and did not need anymore stress so I promised I would order it that day. I did order it that day.. got my confirmation email and everything.. It was on the way..

And here is where all the fun begins..

They sent the wrong one... Yes they did.. and Dell customer service is non existant.. because no one speaks Engish.. Well at least not anyone that I spoke to. Well after about 12 phone calls and 5 emails.. and then my mom calling 4 or 5 times it was straightened out.. sort of.. the flash drive and the surge protector just arrived thursday but the 70 dollars worth of ink cartridges are still MIA.

So Dell if you are reading this... Please send my ink already... I have crafty things I need to do.

My first swap items are finished!!!

So, like I didn't already have enough to do with my crazy busy schedule.. I have also joined this. I love it, just finished my first items to be mailed.

For this swap.. I had to either make or buy 2 postcards and write two unique facts about myself. I decided to make my cards by using cream card stock. Then using a stencil and colored pencils to draw this pretty bird and a butterfly. I am no great artist but I think they turned out pretty well. Here is the second one.

And here is the back of the cards.. I used Microsoft Publisher to add the little stamp picture and the other graphics... The Stamp is my favorite part. It is a bitterroot flower

Have a great day. I'm signing out to do some more crafting.. :) Oh and don't mind the time. I work graveyard so this is the middle of the afternoon for me.

Hello Everyone....

I have survived Christmas again.. :):):) Santa did decide to leave me a cold.. but he was generous in other ways too. That Dell Pc from Nana... (shhhhh, dont tell papa :):):) A 2GB flash drive I am not quite sure how to use.. I am pretty computer stupid.. lolo I am determined and will figure it out, eventually. One set of Denise knitting needles, Thank you!!! someone finally listened. My DD also had a wonderful Christmas. An easy bake oven with all the trimming.. I wonder how long it will take before she is melting crayons and the like in it? She also got a Nintendo DS... and a few games to play in it. So we are entertaining ourselves over here.. but not getting too much done around the house.

I finally figured out how to add photos to my flickr account believe me when I say there is not much on there yet but there will be soon. I have joined Swap-Bot and will be posting pictures of what I have been making.

Well I started this day off with a big old bang!! Walked out of the laundry room right smack into a moose!! The joys of living in Alaska. :):):) You get honest to god, live wild animals in your back yard. Darn!! where's the camera when you need it. He was so close I could have reached out and touched him. :):):) What a rush at 6:30 this morning. I am living on the edge.. :):)

Now that the excitement is over. I want to give you a big warm welcome to my blog and wish you a very merry holiday season. Happy New Year too.
